Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-04-17
Published by Ferdi Bilgic (The Coding Bear). This policy describes how the Metis browser extension handles user data. Contact: ferdi@thecodingbear.dev.
Summary
Metis does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any data. The extension runs entirely in your browser on the page you're viewing. No analytics, no telemetry, no accounts, no cookies, no remote servers.
What Metis does
Metis is a design and development tool. It adds two modes to any webpage you visit:
- Measure: hover or click elements to inspect their box model dimensions.
- Guides: drop vertical or horizontal alignment rulers that snap to element edges and show live gap measurements.
All functionality runs client-side. Nothing leaves your browser.
Data we collect
None. Metis does not collect, access, transmit, share, or store any personally identifiable information, browsing history, web page content, form inputs, keystrokes, mouse activity, cookies, authentication data, location, health data, financial data, or any other personal or sensitive user data.
The extension has no backend, no database, no account system, and makes no outbound network requests.
Permissions
Metis only requests the minimum permissions required to inspect the page you're actively using. It does not:
- Read data from other tabs or sites
- Make outbound network requests
- Store anything about your browsing
Third parties
Metis does not use third-party analytics, trackers, advertising networks, or SDKs. It is not integrated with any external service.
Data sharing and Limited Use
Metis does not sell, rent, lease, or transfer user data to any third party for any purpose.
Metis's use of information received from Chrome and browser APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL and the "Last updated" date above will change accordingly.
